Johna Rodgers

GPC

Johna Rodgers, GPC, serves as Principal Consultant and National Trainer of Johna Rodgers Consulting, LLC—a firm she launched eight years ago. She works with organizations of all types and sizes and has for 25+ years. A specialist in federal grants, she has secured more than $200 million for schools, educational groups, and nonprofits. Johna is a nationally-recognized trainer—one of fewer than 50 Grant Professionals Association (GPA) Approved Trainers—and joined Grant Writing USA in 2013 as a trainer in both grant writing and management. She also serves as a trainer and technical assistance provider for the Kentucky Department of Education and develops training curricula for clients nationally. Johna works tirelessly to improve grants and the grants profession for employees/consultants and the public. She is a member of the GPA Board of Directors, currently serving as President. She is also an original Grant Professional Certified (GPC, 2008) and former Board Member of the Grant Professionals Certification Institute, which provides the nation’s only nationally certified credential in grants. In addition, Johna works with a team of grant professionals to research the impact of burnout on grant professionals—the first such peer reviewed work ever conducted—published in the GPA Journal (“Burnout in the Grants Profession: An initial analysis,” 2020; “BIGGER than Burnout: Strategies to win the silent battle,” 2021). In recognition of her body of work within and for the field, Johna was in 2021 named to the Grant Professionals Class of Distinguished Fellows. Johna lives and works in Bowling Green, KY.
