Boss Talk: How and When to Say “NO”!

A fellow grant writer or manager hands you a grant that doesn’t fit your organization OR your schedule, and you’re expected (literally) to take it. No more! Come learn a #grantpro move that prioritizes your time, talent, and success. You need to have a “Boss Talk.”

During this session, you will learn to see the clear differences between whining about overwork and communicating realistic time requirements. You will discover new ways to communicate (slyly) your very real commitment to the work. You will also learn to advocate in clever, concise ways for your own time-based workload (and not the organization’s ongoing, time-sucking need). In addition, by participating in this session, you will see the importance of data to quietly build a case for change.

The session is recommended for all attendees. After attending this session, you will be able to outline an effective strategy for communicating and setting boundaries about time commitment and other requirements for effective grant writing and management. There is no prerequisite for attendance, and no advance preparation is required. The program level is overview. Attendees can earn up to 2.0 hours of CPE credit in the field of Specialized Knowledge.
