The IRS Form 990 can appear overly complex and confusing at first glance, like many other tax forms. The Form 990 is the information return that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable and nonprofit organizations to file annually. The purpose of Form 990 is to enhance financial transparency by detailing revenue, expenditure, and income data. In addition, it provides information to help determine whether a nonprofit meets the Federal requirements for tax exemption. This session will demystify 990 and provide you the knowledge to complete the form accurately. By attending, you will learn the skills needed to the skills to navigate Form 990 with ease. Following this session, you will be able to:
- List the information each filing organization is required to provide.
- Identify information needed to complete the various schedules (as well as the rules associated with those schedules).
- Recognize unrelated business taxable income (UBTI) and the filing requirements for Form 990-T.
