How Does Your Organizational Culture Impact Grant Seeking? (Part 2)
In this two-part workshop, we will identify how organizational culture directly impacts grant proposal identification, execution, and grant management. Often nonprofits believe barriers to funding exist with the funder and/or with the quality of the proposal. This training will help nonprofits identify cultural internal barriers to accessing more grant funding.
The topics that will be covered during the course of the training include:
- Culture of organization: Impact tracking practices for grants.
- Culture of transparency: Fiscal organization and budget presentation for grants.
- Culture of diversity (including DEI initiatives and staffing for grants).
- Culture of access: Power dynamics around writing grant proposals.
- Culture of storytelling: Testimony gathering and delivery for grants.
After attending this workshop, you will be able to:
- Identify your organization’s cultural elements that support or inhibit grant seeking efforts.
- Describe at least three examples of healthy cultural practices around grant seeking.
- List at least three practical ideas for strengthening your grant identification, execution and grant management.
- Describe at least two tools for educating your board and staff about the relationship between fundraising and organizational culture.
This workshop is recommended for all attendees. Attendees can earn a maximum of one (1.0) hour of CPE credit in the field of specialized knowledge (nonprofits and government) for each session or a total of two (2.0) hours of CPE for completing the entire workshop. The experience level is overview; attendees should have some prior experience in grant writing or evaluation. No advance preparation is required.
