The Nuts and Bolts of Indirect Cost
The Nuts and Bolts of Indirect Cost
For many organizations the indirect cost process is a confusing, unclear endeavor. Understanding indirect cost is an important key in the budgeting and management processes of the grant-funded entity. Unfamiliarity with the rules surrounding indirect costs can lead to issues of noncompliance and potential disallowance of costs creating an unnecessary financial burden on the entity. In this session, we will lift the veil of uncertainty and provide the participant with a thorough understanding of indirect cost. Attendees will learn the Uniform Guidance rules on indirect costs, the types of rates, and the basics of preparing an indirect cost rate proposal.
This session is recommended for all attendees. The experience level is overview. There is no prerequisite for attendance, and prior preparation is not required. Attendees can earn up to one (1.0) hour of CPE credit in the field of accounting (governmental) for completing this session. After attending this session, you will be able to list the general requirements for cost allowability under the Uniform Grants Guidance and distinguish direct and indirect costs.
