Understanding Compliance: The Davis-Bacon Act, Improper Payments, and Suspension and Debarment

Managing federal grants can feel like navigating a complex maze of regulations and other compliance requirements. During this session, we tackle several compliance areas that have generated numerous questions at previous editions of the Southern Grants Forum. This year, we have set aside an entire breakout session to allow us to cover these topics in more detail. By participating in this session, you will learn more about compliance requirements and strategies for ensuring compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act, improper payments, and suspension and debarment. More specifically, attendees will:

• Gain an understanding of the Davis-Bacon Act, it’s requirements, and the responsibilities of the contractor and grantee;
• Gain an understanding of the rules around improper payments, consequences for noncompliance, and strategies for reducing risk; and,
• Gain and understand of the role suspension and debarment plays in the procurement process and internal controls needed to ensure compliance
